The 6 Week Body Makeover Scam

The 6 Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond is an eating program that states that the user will be able to lose up to 30 pounds in six weeks. Like any prudent consumer, I performed research on this product before I purchased it.

So what do you do when you think something is a scam? Well you Google it of course! You will see a variety of websites and hundreds of complaints about this program when you Google the term “6 Week Body Makeover Scam”. I have decided to write this article to clear up some notions about this “scam” diet and clear up misconceptions.

This article will give a fair review of the product. I consider myself an un-biased third party as I am not advertising anything, nor want to sell you any weight loss products. The only thing I want from you is an open-mind and a willingness to learn that not everything that people complain about is true.

When one un-happy person writes that this product is a scam, it turns-off thousand customers from trying this product and potentially losing a lot of weight. Negative reviews are powerful ways to dissuade people from buying or trying any products or services. I’ve realized that in our society people are always going to find something to complain about, no matter how perfect or good a product or service is.

I, like many, have lost weight on this program and have gained lean muscle. Anyone can lose weight through eating less (and healthy) and performing a little aerobic activity once in a while. However, not everyone knows how to eat healthy and this is where the body makeover program comes into play. Before doing this program, I ate anything and everything that was convenient and available. I was eating fast-food and pre-packaged/processed approximately 5 days a week. Once I discovered this program, I learned what types of foods my body needs in order to become a lean, mean, fat burning machine.

The 6 Week Body Makeover focuses on eating foods that help you metabolize calories at a faster rate. In order to do this you have to eat more food throughout the day. However, the portions that you consume tend to be smaller than what you’re currently used to. Also, the food is rather bland as you are not allowed to add salt or oil to any of the food you consume. The Infinite Meal Planner and recipes cards help you create meals that taste decent while restricting sodium intake. Another complaint is that the meal planning process and preparation is tedious. This is true in the fact that it will require you to plan and prepare your meals ahead of time. I tend to think of things positively as I realized that I ended up saving a lot of money eating meals at home (lots of leftovers). Also, when you think of what you’re going to eat ahead of time, it actually causes you to eat healthier. When you are eating whenever you feel hungry or on a sporadic time schedule, you tend to grab food that is convenient. Convenient food tends to be pre-packaged, processed, high-fat, high-sodium and generally un-healthy food.

Other people complain that all they lost was water weight and that they gained all the weight back once they left the program. What they don’t tell you is that they started eating unhealthy again and went back to their old eating habits. People are not victims when it comes to weight loss and weight gain. You ultimately make the decision of whether or not you will lose weight or gain weight. No one is forcing that donut into your mouth.

Are Acai Berry Side Effects Common?

With all of the great health benefits of acai berry receiving plenty of press, many people are left wondering if there are acai berry side effects. Most products only list their side effects in the small print as it is. But when a super fruit like acai berry becomes as popular as it has, it is important that people know whether or not they can rush out and try the supplement. There are some very important things that you need to know about before you consider acai berry.

Side Effects of Acai Berry in its Raw Form

Natives living in the Amazon rainforests in Brazil where acai berry is sourced have made this fruit part of their daily intake for hundreds of years now. Studies reveal acai consists of about 40% of their diet. The fact that no side effects have been observed from the people who consume the largest quantities of acai should say something about eating acai in its raw form. The only instance where a few individuals might have some adverse reaction to acai is if they have pollen or food allergies that might be set off by eating the fruit. But this is no different than what other people experience from eating mangoes or oranges which could trigger irritants in the body. Other than this, it’s safe to assume that acai berry in its natural form should cause little or no discomfort at all.

Side Effects of Acai Berry Supplements

While it is worth noting that there have been no reported incidents of acai berry side effects, the probability of having an acai-related negative reaction is higher when taking the supplements. This is because not all companies selling acai have pure, unadulterated acai. To save on costs or to come up with variety in taste, some manufacturers mix acai with other ingredients including fillers and sweeteners, which may not be good for you. Another factor could also be the amount of acai consumed. Acai juices when taken in large amounts for instance, may cause an upset stomach or diarrhea just like any other food. The best thing you can do is to always follow the recommended dosage found in your product.

Is Taking Acai Berry Risky?

Acai berries are no more or less dangerous than common fruits grown in the United States. Have you ever known anyone who suffered from problems related to eating too many apples? If you take a pure product in the recommended dosage, you will most likely be fine. Even in large quantities, it is hard to each too much fruit. Aside from minor problems, such as too much fiber making you gassy or bloated, you are not likely to experience any unpleasant side effects of acai berry.

Foods Rich In Potassium For Potassium Deficiency

The normal serum level of potassium is 3.5 to 5 mEq/L. Potassium is an electrolyte that remains within your body’s cells (intracellular), while electrolytes sodium and chloride remain outside the cells (extracellular). It is very important that your body’s electrolytes such as chloride, sodium and potassium remain at their proper levels.

A diet that is high in sodium and low in potassium can negatively impact potassium status. While the typical American diet, which is high in sodium-containing processed foods and low in fruits and vegetables, contains about two times more sodium than potassium, many health experts recommend eating more potassium rich foods. Due to illness, some people need to restrict their potassium intake and some people may actually need to increase foods rich in potassium into their diets. Potassium is a dietary mineral that is generally quite abundant in most people’s diets, most healthy people get plenty from their diets.

The potassium content of foods plays a role in keeping your heartbeat regular and your muscles working right. Potassium is a mineral found in many of the foods you eat and drink. Studies have shown that foods rich in potassium may help to prevent high blood pressure and may enhance the effect of antihypertensive medications. Both physical and mental stress can lead to a deficiency in potassium. Alcohol, coffee, and sugar deplete potassium levels in the body. Potassium is one of the electrolytes we all require to maintain health.

A 1977 review of earlier studies showed that low potassium intake might be significant factor in the development of high blood pressure. Potassium is important for a healthy nervous system and a regular heart rhythm. It helps prevent stroke, aids in proper muscle contraction, and works with sodium to control the body’s water balance. Potassium is important for chemical reactions within the cells and aid in maintaining stable blood pressure and in transmitting electrochemical impulses.

The function of potassium has been shown to decrease with age, which may account for some of the circulatory damage, lethargy, and weakness experienced by older people. Together with magnesium, potassium can help prevent calcium-oxalate kidney stones.

Excessive sodium intake can result in edema, high blood pressure, potassium deficiency, and liver and kidney disease. Potassium deficiencies include abnormally dry skin, acne, chills, cognitive impairment, constipation, depression, diarrhea, diminished reflex function, edema, nervousness, insatiable thirst, fluctuations in heartbeat, glucose intolerance, growth impairment, high cholesterol levels, insomnia, low blood pressure, muscular fatigue and weakness, nausea and vomiting, periodic headaches, proteinuria (protein in the urine), respiratory distress, and salt retention.

Hyperkalemia is a condition where there is too much potassium in the blood. This can be due to an underlying medical condition such as a kidney disease or diabetes. Doctors want to keep an eye on elevated potassium levels because very high levels can be damaging to your heart. Hypokalemia is a condition where the potassium levels are too low. This could happen because you don’t get enough from your diet, however it is quite common for potassium levels to become too low because of digestive problems. For example, chronic diarrhea or excessive vomiting. Certain hormonal disorders such as Cushing’s disease can also cause low levels of potassium. Some drugs like diuretics and laxatives can also cause hypokalemia.

Potassium rich foods may be recommended, as well as oral potassium supplements for treatment of mild forms of hypokalemia. Certain medications can accelerate the removal of potassium from the body, including thiazide diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide, loop diuretics such as furosemide, as well as various laxatives. Both dietary and pharmaceutical supplements are used for people taking diuretic medications.

Acai Berry And The Claims Associated With It

The acai berry and the acai berry diet has had a significant amount of media and news coverage in the last 5-10 years. The acai berry became common in the United States in the early 2000s, and has just now become popular as a supplement. The acai berry is new, so many claims are unquestioned by those who know anything about the product.

The claims which are made by those promoting an acai berry diet have cause small levels of controversy and confusion. Understanding the claims of the acai berry diet, and their validity, will help you to understand what you can expect from an acai diet.

Not Approved

The acai berry diet usually features claims that it will help people lose weight. It also claims that it can help to improve sex drive, and is a great way to perform a full body cleansing process. There is no scientific backing behind these claims. Therefore, these claims are not approved by the FDA.

Not Disproved

While these claims are not proved, the claims have not necessarily been disproved. Because the acai berry is new, tests and scientific research is being done on the validity of these claims. Eventually, we will have a better understanding as to the full scientific claims of the diet. It is important to understand that while they have not be disproved, they may not be true.

The acai berry is health. Doctors do not question the health benefits of eating an acai berry. The questions that arise come from the unfounded claims for situations such as weight loss and cleansing. While these diets may be able to help in these areas, supplementing the diet with other diets is the best way to see results. Take acai claims with a grain of salt.
