The Cayenne Pepper Diet is a fast for 3 – 10 days. During this fast you will drink a lemonade made from fresh squeezed lemon juice, natural maple syrup, cayenne pepper and fresh water. This diet is also know as the Master Cleanse. The (surprisingly tasty) drink will assist you detoxifying your body, ridding your body of accumulated waste, and burn body fat.
People new to the Cayenne Pepper Diet often make a simple but devastating mistake. It’s done with good intentions, but can leave the cleanse almost worthless to you. The number #1 mistake that people make with the cleanse is: Buying cheap substitutes for the ingredients in the recipe.
The recipe is simple and so are the ingredients. Natural organic maple syrup, fresh lemons and pure water. The quality of these ingredients will determine the success of the cleanse.
You must use only REAL maple syrup, preferably Grade B. If you can get your hands on organic syrup, buy it. The grade of the syrup roughly corresponds to the season in which the sap was collected from the maple trees. Grade A syrup is gathered early in the season and is light in color and mild to taste. Grade B is darker and has a stronger maple flavor. There is also a Grade C which is very dark and strong. This is used only for commercial purposes.
For the Cayenne Pepper Diet, we prefer to use Grade B syrup because it’s packed with the essential nutrients. Please never use pancake syrup for the cleanse – it’s artificially flavored and contains mostly refined sugar without the natural nutrients of the real thing.
Good supermarkets will often carry high-quality maple syrup. Look for it in the aisle that has the pancake mixes. Failing that, you can find it at your health food store. Always check the label to ensure you are buying 100% real syrup. It should cost between $8-$10 per 32 ounce bottle and you will require several for the cleanse. Since you won’t be spending money on groceries during the cleanse, it becomes affordable that way.
The quality of the lemons is also very important. Buy fresh lemons, not the concentrate in the bottle. It won’t taste as good and it’s been refined somewhat and lacks the purity that you require for your cleanse. Fresh-squeezed lemon juice also tastes much better and you will find yourself craving the drink. You will be juicing a lot of lemons so buy a juicer that you feel comfortable using. I just use a wooden “munge” that allows me to quickly juice a lemon but if you have a juicer … go for it.
We are composed of more than 85% water. When you are making the lemonade for the cleanse, it should be obvious that the prime ingredient is water and it should be of high quality. No bottled water. Fancy bottled tap water isn’t going to cut it for you and you deserve better. Buy a Brita system or some other filter and ensure that your water is clean and filtered. When you detox, your intent is to get rid of toxins and putting only fresh ingredients back in your body is a wise decision.
Cleansing successfully with the Cayenne Pepper Diet is done by choosing high quality ingredients only. This will leave you feeling lighter and younger. If this is your first cleanse, then you should be excited to know that it will work marvels for your health – detoxing your body leaving you alert and clear. photo credit Cieleke @ http://www.sxc.hu
