Plastic Bag Island

We have been told that there is a plastic bag island, larger than the state of Texas, is floating in the Pacific Ocean.

But its not the type of island where you can curl up in lounge chair and crack a Corona. The mass of trash, mostly plastic bags, is called the Central Pacific Gyre (East), and its 10 million square miles in the middle of the Pacific Ocean between the California coast and Japan.

The Gyre has extremely strong and circular currents and winds which cause it to lock in anything that enters its space. The Algalita Marine Research Foundation in Long Beach, CA, says that even yachts should avoid sailing into the Gyre. The Gyre is also known as plastic soup as it has accumulated so many plastic bags recently.

The founder and research director of the Algalita Foundation, Captain Charles Moore, says that the Gyre is not even the worst “trash island.” The Algalita Foundation, which exists to bring to light marine ecological issues, recently went to the Gyre and discovered an even more troubling “plastic bag island” — the subtropical convergence zone (West). The subtropic convergence zone is the area of the ocean where tropical currents meet colder, arctic ones. This convergence of currents has caused an even larger and more dense trash collection.

More informally these regions are called the East and West Pacific Garbage Patch. Debris floating around the garbage patches consists mainly of fishing gear and plastic waste.

Sometimes our trash gets confused with a marine animal’s normal diet. It has been documented that many marine species cannot tell the difference between a plastic bag and a jellyfish, for example. It has also been shown that many marine animals have been found dead from chocking on plastic bags and other items.

Waste has more consequences than we realize, as our oceans attest. Despite a rather successful recycling movement there are still 90 billion plastic bags that are thrown away rather than recycled ever year.

The answer is simple, use reusable bags! Imagine if and perhaps when towns decide to start charging for plastic bags. In fact, residents in Seattle, Washington may be facing a $.0.20 bag tax. Those who vote against the tax are clearly showing the very reason the ocean is polluted with plastic debris. Its time to take a stand, use reusable bags.

How Will You Decide On A Facial Cleanser Cream?

Facial cleanser cream was developed to replace soap when washing your face. Like soap they were designed remove dirt and excess oil. Unlike soap they are supposed to leave your skin feeling fresh, clean and revitalized.

To renew skin you must first get rid of old, dead skin and encourage your body’s own production of elastin and collagen.

A facial cleanser will leave your skin fresh, velvety and oxygenated ready to accept moisturizers and make up. Fresh glowing healthy skin is the basis of good skin care. A high quality facial cleanser will provide you with that base.

As we age it gets harder and harder to retain the moisture in our skin and to keep our youthful glow. Soap although it cleans tends to dry out skin and add to the aging process. To reduce the look of aging when a face cleanser, don’t simply head to your local drugstore makeup counter and hope for the best.

The ingredients used in many facial creams are cheap and a number of manufacturers use them because they will clean, but also “suck” the moisture out of your skin causing dryness.

Then there are the manufacturers who put some natural ingredients in their skin care products–just enough to make the label look good–not enough to be effective. Even natural quality ingredients in too small concentrations cannot penetrate the skin which makes them useless for skin care.

Now we understand having natural ingredients listed on the label is not enough. the ingredients must be proven effective, safe and in sufficient quantities to preform!

We all want the dirt, grime, pollution and excess oil removed from our face, but we don’t want to lose precious moisture from our skin. Ingredients like alcohol, parabens, fragrances and perfumes do just that. Would you trust companies that use such ingredients?

Advertising in many cases helps us make a decision. Often though big corporations will spend mega millions on ad champagnes to promote an inferior product. They will use high paid models and celebrities to represent their product. All very slick and smooth.

Expense or hype doesn’t mean skin care products are high quality or effective.

Some times a smaller more dedicated company. Focuses on research and makes a startling breakthrough using all natural components. They put it all together and offer it at a reasonable price, which makes it a terrific value. When we use it, the product surpasses our expectations and we are blown away by the results.

With a blend of Macadamia Oil, Shea Butter, active Manuka Honey and Allantoin a natural compound found in herbs. Soothes your skin and eases inflammation. Quality ingredients like this gently deep clean even the most delicate skin.

Healthy skin care always includes a followed up with a high quality natural moisturizer.

Choose a good natural facial cleanser cream and your face will look and feel great!

The Factors that Influence the Price of a Rhinoplasty

One of the more popular cosmetic surgery procedures in America today is the rhinoplasty, or as it is more commonly known, the nose job. It seems that whenever people begin discussing this procedure, a question often arises is how much does it costs. With that in mind, we are going to discuss the factors that influence the cost of this procedure.

When this question comes up, most people want a definitive answer. Unfortunately, this is not possible due to the numerous variables. To illustrate this point, please let us elaborate further.

The main determinant is the fee structure of the nose job surgeon. A surgeon will determine his fee structure by considering his experience, skill level, and the geographical area that he works in.

First, in term of surgical experience, you really will get what you pay for. If you decide to be as cheap as possible, you will end up with a less experienced doctor. Personally, we would prefer a more experienced surgeon (but that will cost more than an inexperienced surgeon).

Additionally, you will need to consider the geographical area that your surgeon works in. It should (and will) cost more for a nose job in New York City than Biloxi, Mississippi. With that said, the quality of rhinoplasty doctors should be higher in New York City.

Many people often ask how they can determine a surgeons skill level. Luckily, you can take a few minutes to review the pictures in their portfolio of previous patients, which is usually posted online. It will quickly become apparent which surgeons are the most skilled.

The other main factor that affects the rhinoplasty’s final cost is the miscellaneous extra costs. These costs include the pre-operative laboratory testing, operating room fees, anesthesiologists fees, and pain medication.

As you have read and now realize, there is no way to provide a definitive answer on how much this procedure should cost. To get a definitive answer, you will need to contact a rhinoplasty surgeon in your area.

Plastic Bag Soup

Weve all heard that the plastic bag island is supposedly larger than the state of Texas.

The Algalita Marine Research Foundation in Long Beach, CA, says that even boats should avoid traveling into the Gyre. The Gyre is also known as plastic soup as it has accumulated so many plastic bags recently.

Captain Charles Moore is a founder and research coordinator of the Algalita Foundation. The foundation specializes in environmental issues pertaining to marine life. While on an expedition to the Gyre, the Algalita team discovered a more disturbing site, its called the subtropical convergence zone (West). The subtropical convergence zone is simply the point in which warmer waters in tropical temperatures meets cold water. Its in this area where the currents formulate highways of trash, even more dense than the Gyre.

To the locals in these areas, these convergence zones are simply known as the East and West Pacific Garbage Patches. The garbage in these patches is mostly plastic bags and abandoned fishing line, nets, and lures.

Sometimes our trash gets confused with a marine animal’s normal diet. It has been documented that many marine species cannot tell the difference between a plastic bag and a jellyfish, for example. It has also been shown that many marine animals have been found dead from chocking on plastic bags and other items.

I don’t know if people realize this but the ocean is not a trash dump! How much effort does it take to recycle plastic bags or plastic bottles? While more and more Americans are recycling plastic bags there are still more than 90 billion bags each year that are not recycled worldwide.

But there is a solution: reusable bags! Right now in Seattle, Washington, they are debating a $0.20 plastic bag tax. Its time to take a stand and initiate bands like this. It’s time for the whole world to switch to non-polluting, reusable bags.

Choosing A Memory Foam Mattress Topper

Are you tired of sleeping on a hard uncomfortable bed? Do you wake up with backaches and feels like you legs and arms are asleep? Does the padding on your bed seem to be getting thin? If you said yes to any or all of the above, then you might want to buy a new memory foam mattress topper.

Memory foam mattress toppers are available in many stores as well as online. Before you purchase the product, there are several things to check out. These things will help you to get the most for your money.

Because memory foam is bulky and can be compressed, the compression process makes shipping and customer handling easier. It is very important to know what kind of process was used to compress your memory foam product. Mechanical compression is preferred as a method of packaging memory foam. Vacuum compression can cause numerous cells of the memory foam to break. The damage which is caused by vacuum packaging is irreversible and will result in a product that will never offer the comfort of memory foam that has been packaged correctly. To avoid a lumpy bed, find a memory foam product that has been compressed mechanically.

The density of the memory foam product is also very important. Higher density products may be more expensive, but they are of a higher quality and will give the best results. You will want a product with a minimum density of more than four pounds. This will result in the best support.

Once you have purchased your topper, you need to know how to best install it. First you must strip your bed of all sheets and other bedding. Then you will remove the mattress topper from its packaging. Avoid the temptation to use knives or scissors at this point. Cutting the memory foam will cause your new topper to be uncomfortable and may render it useless. Remove from the plastic wrapping that is used to keep the foam compressed.

Once the mattress topper is out of its package, begin unrolling it on your bed. This task may be easier if the topper has been allowed to sit in a warm car for a couple of hours just prior to installation. Even then, the topper may still be somewhat stiff. Unroll and unfold the topper onto your bed. At this point you will need to leave the memory foam alone and let it come back into shape. This could take anywhere from twenty-five minutes to one hour. You will see the memory foam slowly expanding until it comes back into shape.

After the topper has returned to its full shape, make your bed as normal. Deep pocket fitted sheets will be helpful at this point. They allow you to cover both the topper and the mattress sides. Do not forget that your bed is now slightly higher than it was before.

Here it the greatest part of the whole process. Enjoy a great night’s sleep. In the morning you will not have backaches or arms that are asleep. Memory foam adjusts to fully support your body. Your weight is evenly supported. No longer will you feel the pressure spots from spending your time sleeping in only one position. Doesn’t a good nights sleep sound great? Good night.

EMR – A Friend or Feo to Transcription?

Having a client tell a transcription service provider that the transcription service was very good but they were switching to the EMR is a nightmare comes true for most of the transcription companies. So how do we as a transcription company overcome this nightmare, which could become real???

What is EMR and how did the concept came about. In April 2004, President Bush issued Executive Order 13335, which established a new executive position charged with developing a strategic plan and incentives to promote the adoption of electronic health records (EHRs). The accompanying press release stated that the President announced an ambitious goal of assuring that most Americans have electronic health records [EHRs] within the next 10 years. So you know as per this EO 2014 is the deadline.

While small practices see the majority of patient visits in the United States, less than 10% have even a basic EMR. Among all office-based physicians in the United States, only a minority has adopted electronic systems, and their use is most prevalent among primary care physicians and those practicing in large groups, hospitals, or medical centers, according to a July 3 article in The New England Journal of Medicine.

The main drawbacks of the EMR system in the market are that they are not custom made to suit a certain practice. They have inbuilt variables which have to be selected. These feature-rich EMRs are best suited for hospital systems and large medical practices that can devote full-time employees to running these applications and producing reports for management and clinical use.

Dictated notes have another advantage over notes created through structured data entry. Clinical notes are intended to help organize a physicians thought process and tell the patients story in a concise manner, but EMR-generated notes can eliminate this basic function. According to the article Off the Record ” Avoiding the Pitfalls of Going Electronic published in a recent issue of The New England Journal of Medicine, Notes that are meant to be focused and selective have become voluminous and templated, distracting from the key cognitive work of providing care. Such charts may satisfy the demands of third-party payers, but they are the product of a word processor, not of physicians thoughtful review and analysis. The best solution may be a combination of structured data and dictated notes integrated within an EMR, with physicians having the ability to choose their preferred mode of documentation.

The good news is that it is not transcription against the rest of the medical documentation industry. Many software companies recognize that dictation and transcription play a key role in medical documentation. And transcription companies have a valuable asset to bring to the table: long-time clients who trust and depend on their services.
